The inn was full.
We hadn't the money
To pay anyway.

Sharing space with
The animals was
A nice touch.

Joseph always liked
To camp out & cook
Lentil soup.

Did you know he
Made a manger
Out of scrap
Wood lying about?

You have heard of
The Three Wise
Men & their gifts?
Gifts for kings.

We would have
Preferred something
To eat, something
Edible, even fruitcake.

The wise men
were a bit stiff.
A well-equipped
Shepherd is of
Much more use.

Joseph knows he
Is not the father,
Yet he barters his
Skills for our needs.

Shepherds love Joseph,
They are afraid of me.
The stars are bright
Tonight, thank you God
For Joseph, uncomplicated Joseph.
